First Birthday Cake Smash Photo Session – Budapest, Hungary

I truly love cake smash sessions! Your baby is growing up right before your eyes and surprising you with something new every single day. Those tiny teeth, bright curious eyes, chubby bellies, and joyful giggles make this age absolutely perfect for adorable photographs. At one year old, life is all about exploring, touching, tasting, and having fun – and there is no better way to celebrate this milestone than with a cake smash!

Photographing one‑year‑olds is always a joy. I adore the personality that shines through at this age: the confidence, the curiosity, the silliness, and the sweet moments in between. One of my favorite parts of cake smash sessions is creating custom sets. I love designing themes based on your baby’s nursery, birthday party colors, a favorite book, hobby, or any special idea you have in mind. After photographing cake smash sessions for many years, I’ve collected a wide range of props, decorations, and backgrounds – and I always have plenty of creative ideas for every session.

How a Cake Smash Session Works

1. Portrait Session (20 minutes)

We begin with a short portrait session before the cake comes out. You can bring up to three favorite outfits for your baby, and we can also take family photos during this time if you’d like. These portraits are clean, classic, and perfect for capturing your baby’s sweet expressions before the messy fun begins.

2. The Cake Smash

And then… the real fun starts! Your baby gets to explore the cake in their own way – touching it, smashing it, tasting it, or diving right in. Every baby reacts differently, and that’s what makes these sessions so special. The joy, the curiosity, the surprise on their little faces… it’s priceless.

3. Mini Bath Session

After the cake smash, we finish with a warm mini bath filled with bubbles and rubber ducks. Babies absolutely love this part, and it also helps clean them up before heading home. The bath photos are always adorable and make a perfect ending to the session.

Cake smash sessions are all about celebrating your baby’s first year in a fun, playful, and memorable way. These images will become treasured keepsakes – a joyful reminder of how tiny, curious, and full of personality your little one was at one year old.
